half term

First day back to school today after a lovely weeks rest. And that rest was much needed by all.

Sometimes half term holidays can be jam-packed fun-fests but this one we kept simple and sought out: slow mornings, extra pyjama time, pockets of calm, huge skies, water to paddle in, calming nature, trees to arch over us and make us feel small, beach treasures, sea glass, shells, driftwood, sand dunes, holes to dig, herbs for playing at potion-making, quiet spots for picnics, garden picnics, time to chat and dream and figure things out.

It was a lovely week. One afternoon as we gathered ourselves to journey home from a quiet, windy, shell-strewn beach my biggest boy said with a big smile, ‘mummy, I’ll never ever forget this day’ and my heart soared and I quietly reminded myself that the simplest of days makes the greatest memories.

If it was your half term too, I hope it was a lovely one x
